Children from Cornwall have enjoyed an Easter trail organised by college students, with funds raised being donated to charity.

FdA Children and Young People’s Workforce students from Duchy College organised the Easter trail on the College campus for children at Ducklings preschool, Flying Start Nursery and WOW playgroup.

FdA Children and Young People’s Workforce student, Joanne Rickard, said it was “a fantastic opportunity for us to engage with children and practitioners from local settings, with support from local businesses of chocolate donations for all who participated.”

“It was a successful event for all involved, with the children being sponsored for completion of the Easter Trail,” she continued.

“We raised nearly £200 to be divided between Ellie’s Haven and the settings involved.”

Manager of Flying Start Nurseries, Laura Vine, said the children “loved taking part in the Easter trail”.

“They especially loved having their faces painted and of course the chocolate prize at the end. For us here at Flying Start Duchy, it is always great for us to join in and support college events as well as raising money for a fabulous cause.”

Team Lead for Children, School and Families at Duchy College, Laetitia Mayne, said the students “excelled in the planning and running of this activity”.

“They ensured that children and young people of all ages were able to fully engage and have fun,” she continued.

“The group learnt valuable transferrable skills which they can take into industry once they have completed their degree.”
