Students have celebrated an incredibly successful year at a special awards ceremony in Cornwall.

Cornwall College Saltash held its annual celebration of success for Access to Higher Education students at the The Cardinals Hatt in Hatt.

Aside from marking another exceptional year, it was also a chance to welcome back former students who spoke about their successes at university and beyond.

Nursing B student, Aimee Rodgers, felt “extremely proud” to win the award for Student of the Year at the celebration.

“My time on the Access to Nursing course at Cornwall College Saltash was such a brilliant experience,” she continued.

“Although it is an academic course I made such good friends and we all supported each other through each part of the course.

“I felt more than comfortable to talk to the tutors about what I was finding hard and I was quickly helped and back on track.”

Aimee said she would also highly recommend the course.

“If anyone is thinking about it, go and have a chat with the team and put your all in to it, it is hard but it is so worth it, you can do more than you think and they will prepare you for university,” she added.

Team Lead for Access to Higher Education at Saltash, Kevin Smale, spoke about how proud the college is of its students.

“It was wonderful for our students to come together to celebrate their achievements over the past 12 months and to round off a superb year for everyone,” he explained.

“Cornwall College Saltash celebrates the successes of our learners as part of our core values and is proud to have played a role in helping people to progress on to higher education and employment.

“We have exceptional staff and students at Cornwall College Saltash and we are already looking forward to another brilliant year of learning from September.”
