An Open Day in Falmouth is aiming to shed light on ways into a career in marine engineering, specifically through a new education route.
The new Marine Industries course at Falmouth Marine School has been developed to enable learners to progress to a career which requires study at higher education level such as the Super yacht and commercial shipping industry Cadetship programmes or direct to University at the appropriate level.
Innovation Manager at Falmouth Marine School, Martin Peart said: “The new programme of study forms part of the ongoing developments within the specialist institution. It is aimed at those wishing to specialise within the marine industries”.
“However, the content will equally allow learners to work in other engineering sectors,” he continued.
“The programme of study is recognised by Universities and as such carries UCAS points for those wishing to progress to Higher Education.”
The Marine Engineering department at Falmouth Marine School will be running the Open Day on the 6th July for prospective students.
There are bookable slots throughout the day. To book your place please contact Falmouth Marine School on 01326 310 310 where times will be confirmed as appropriate.
Staff will also be available to discuss the current Marine Engineering City & Guilds skills-based qualification offerings, which remain unaffected by this new programme of study.
