Health & Social Care students and their families enjoyed an Evening of Celebration to mark the end of their studies.

Held at Zafiros, in Truro, former Poltair School Pupil, Kallie Jarvis, was “really surprised to win” Student of the Year for Health & Social Care.

“It has been a great two years and I’ve made some brilliant friends since I’ve been at College,” she added.

Kallie wants to become an A&E Nurse so will be studying Nursing at the Knowledge Spa in Truro, continuing her studies in Cornwall.

Lisa Clark, Director of Health & Wellbeing said it was “a fabulous evening and it’s been a real pleasure to see these students achieve their goals and go on to successful careers”.

“As the Career College that’s what we are here to do; whether that’s helping students get to University or Employment, we’re here to help them achieve success,” she added.

Liz Jeff, Lecturer at Cornwall College, said the students worked really hard individually and as a group.

“They’ve worked in the community with placements and part-time jobs, which has given them all great preparation to go to university or go straight into their careers,” she added.

The group has had some fantastic results and students have won some brilliant awards such as 100% attendance which will help towards those students going into jobs in the community, according to Lisa.

Head of St Austell Campus, Chris Taylor, said it had been “a real privilege” to give out the awards.

“I see Health and Social Care groups as one of the most significant groups who do amazing work in our communities, making a real difference to many people’s lives,” he added.
