Cornwall College St Austell is throwing open its doors to the public as part of is celebration of providing both vocational and A-level provision for St Austell and its wider business community for the last 25 years.
St Austell College was formed in April 1993 as a result of a merger of the original Mid-Cornwall College of Further Education and St Austell Sixth Form, which up until that time served as two separate entities.
Head of St Austell Campus Chris Taylor explained that the college is an “integral cog” to the area for providing training and education.
“It’s not just the young people in our community that we serve but also adults looking to retrain, up-skill for their careers or take an Access course to apply for a degree,” he continued.
“We currently have approximately 3000 full-time and part-time students attending the College and we provide learners with a choice of more than 200 courses and pathways to help them into their chosen career or onto higher education.”
Education and training are constantly evolving sectors and it is important to adapt, which is why college staff are excited to be planning the next phase of Cornwall College St Austell, Chris asserted.
“There is plenty to look forward to and it is very rewarding to be working on how the College will continue to meet and excel in the training and educational needs of our community.”
The College is to all prospective students and their families on Saturday 17th March between 10am and 12pm, where everyone is welcome to explore the campus and ask questions about their career options.
Friendly and knowledgeable advisors will be on hand on the day to offer insights on all aspects of college life including courses, study programmes, transport and learning support.
“We’re proud to be St Austell’s local college and we’re looking forward to welcoming potential students and their families to our excellent campus,” Chris added.
