Young people from across the county have had “an amazing time” on a trip to London, where they discovered where future careers could take them.

Students studying all manner of subjects at Duchy College Stoke Climsland, Rosewarne and Cornwall College Newquay took in West End shows, had a bird’s eye view of the capital on the Coca-Cola London Eye and had the chance to explore the Natural History Museum.

Other highlights included a night at the Apollo Theatre to watch the musical Wicked and ice skating in Hyde Park, but for the majority of animal management students the pinnacle of the trip was a visit to London Zoo, which boasts more than 750 awe-inspiring species and cutting-edge exhibits.

Student, Dulcie Brown from Torpoint, said it was an amazing trip, “we have seen and done so much”.

“My favourite part was seeing all the animals at London Zoo. It was a great experience going with students from other campuses as we made lots of new friends,” she added.

Course Co-ordinator, Kerry Stanyard, said it was vital to be able to show students in the county that there are plenty of career opportunities on completion of their courses.

“Cornwall offers so many specialist courses for young people where they can turn their passions into their careers,” she continued.

“By providing small class sizes, expert tuition with lecturers who have strong industry links and a friendly, positive environment, our students really excel and enter the working world as highly employable individuals.”

Kerry also wanted to thanks all learners and staff who attended the trip and made it the success it was.

“For some, it was the first time they had spent time away from home and experienced first-hand, a multi-cultural society and the delights of the London underground,” she added.
