Our exciting and unique partnership with South West Lakes, one of Cornwall’s leading outdoor providers, has enabled us to develop a study programme that will make you directly employable by the industry or allow you to gain entry on to university study.
The educational qualifications will be delivered by a highly qualified and experienced team of lecturers; you will complete a Level 2 diploma in one-year allowing you to build on your practical skills before progressing on to the Level 3 Extended Diploma.

You have completed the level 2 Watersport Instructor Diploma and you wish to work in the watersports industry. If you would like to become an Instructor, Centre Manager or Event Co-ordinator locally, nationally or internationally then this is the course for you.
To have completed the level 2 diploma.
You will also need to have 4 GCSEs at grade D or 3, including English and mathematics and ideally science, plus a strong desire to work in the watersports industry.
The programme of study will be delivered at Stithian's Lake Activity Centre and Falmouth Marine School over a 1 year period. The centre delivers activities to the wider community, school groups and has an active membership base for clubs.
The educational qualifications will be delivered by a highly qualified and experienced team of lecturers.
English & Maths qualifications will be delivered at Falmouth Marine School by specialist members of our team, along with pastoral care and access to all of our student services.
Your course will be delivered at Falmouth Marine School and Stithian’s Lake. On average you will spend two days at Stithian’s Outdoor Centre on the water completing practical elements of the course. The centre has classroom facilities so you can come off the water and straight into the classroom to apply what you have learnt.
Assessments will be coursework based and will have both practical and theory elements.
Kit packages will be available for you to buy technical and casual kit at reduced prices.

Following achievement of the above, learners can progress onto completing the other optional pathway and progressing onto instructor courses.
By enrolling on this course learners will benefit for emersion in real life working centre, gaining practical and theoretical knowledge and technical skills that will set them up for working in the industry.
Through the collaboration we can offer internationally recognised qualifications at a hugely reduced and affordably price. These are in addition to work experience placements, volunteering opportunities and long term prospects within the local industry. The partnership can facilitate direct employment across the county with SWL sites based at; Wimbleball, Roadford, Tamar, and Siblyback lakes.

Hannah Mason Watersports Chief Instructor
Hannah is an RYA accredited advanced windsurf, senior dingy and powerboat instructor. Hannah is well known in the industry having 10 years of experience working at centres both in the UK and abroad. Hannah is a former Falmouth Marine School watersports student and obtained her first job at the College’s industry day. Having completed the same journey that the students have the opportunity to, she is in a unique position to advise and impart her experience.
