This course is intended for those considering a career within the marine engineering, industries and gives the learner an opportunity to consider progression to an apprenticeship or employment within the marine industry.
There are a number of differing options for enrolment to this course and this might be completion of a first year of level 2 study at the college, on completion of secondary education or as a mature learner; some knowledge of the marine industries would be appropriate for learners applying for the course, however for mature learners this may be the wish to work within the marine sector.
There are a large number of opportunities for the learner from the successful completion of this course and these could be to employment with the following sectors:
Commercial Yacht/ Commercial vessel industry, Super Yacht Industry, Off-shore Industry
Merchant Shipping Industry, Royal Navy, Royal Fleet Auxiliary
Marine construction industry (e.g. Pendennis Shipyard, A&P Shipyard, Princess Yachts)

This one-year course is for those who wish to develop the necessary foundation skills in marine engineering in order to progress on to the Level 3 Diploma.
Learners are encouraged to apply on completion of their secondary education or as a mature learner; no previous knowledge is expected of the learner other than the wish to work within the marine sector.
There are a large number of opportunities for the learner from the successful completion of this course and these could be to employment with the following sectors:
