The FdSc Ecotourism is unique; it is the only course currently available in the UK offering a mix of key themes for employment in the growing ecotour industry. The course is based on three elements: wildlife, business and tourism, enabling students to learn the underpinning knowledge and skills to be a valuable employee or set up a business. The course is perfectly located in the beach-tourism capital of the UK with myriad experienced businesses to learn from on the doorstep. Students will experience, and interact with, range of ecotour operators working on land and at sea. Students will be able to choose to take part in overseas expeditions to experience exotic ecotour locations first-hand. Students will be part of the Higher Education community based at Cornwall College Newquay with access to experienced staff, tutoring, academic support, and extra-curricular activities. Students will undertake a period of work experience to understand the sector from the inside out and hone their skills. Students will be encouraged to pursue best practice in all areas and keep abreast of new technologies and initiatives to ensure currency throughout their studies and careers. Tourists have a responsibility to become conservationists to protect areas of importance and beauty for future generations, graduates in ecotourism will lead this evolution.
