For 2018 start

Cornwall College Newquay LEVEL: 6 Sports & Fitness

This three year programme is designed to provide you with a firm grounding in the science, technology and business applicable for a career in the marine sports sector.

This programme can also be studied as a one year top-up from a relevant foundation degree, where you will complete Year 3 only.

Based at our main Cornwall College Newquay campus, and at our premises on Tolcarne Beach in Newquay, you will have the opportunity to study a number of different modules relating to the ocean environment in which you practise your sport, including research into issues arising from the environmental impacts of marine sports and contemporary issues relating to
the practice and development of a variety of marine sports.

There are also modules that will allow you the opportunity to gain key qualifications in your particular area of expertise; enhancing your employability in what is a competitive industry. Sector specific businesses and events, the development of understanding of exercise sciences and coaching will all be included and considered throughout the course.

Alongside this the essential business, management, transferable and soft skills, which are key to graduate level employment, will be embedded in a number of modules. These include event and expedition management and business and enterprise.

Sustainability of marine sector sporting activities and environmental awareness will be considered alongside new and developing technology in the industry.

This programme will be taught in a variety of modes including lectures, practicals, workshops and block delivery both in and by industry. Assessment is via a combination of assignments, presentations, exams, case studies and practical work.
