You are 19 or over and seeking a career in a medical discipline.
Although there aren't any specific entry requirements, all applicants will be invited to attend an interview where full course information is given and you will be expected to complete an Initial Assessment.
Applicants who do not hold a GCSE in mathematics or English at grade C or above will be expected to gain these qualifications before or alongside their Access studies. The opportunity to achieve these qualifications will be provided.
The main subjects for this course are Biology, Anatomy, Physiology, Psychology and Sociology.
The course runs for three days per week for one year. You will study a range of units at level 3 (equivalent to A level). Each unit is worth 3 credits. For successful completion of the access course you will need 60 credits overall. The 60 credits are made up of 45 credits from your main subject areas and 15 credits from your core units, which are designed to prepare you for academic study at university level.
This programme is recognised by almost all Physiotherapy and Occupational Therapy Schools. This programme is also suitable preparation for other related medical disciplines such as Podiatry, Speech and Language Therapy, Radiography and Dietetics. Other career options through this route include Midwifery, Nursing, Prosthetics and Chiropractics. Offers are generally dependent on final grades.
