This programme is intended for people who have completed an introductory counselling course, typically at a Level 2 who wish to develop their counselling skills further or gain a qualification in Higher Education which qualifies them to apply for the Level 5 Diploma in Person Centred Counselling (a professional qualification in Counselling)
The Certificate of Advanced Counselling, enables you to develop your counselling skills within a person-centred framework. You are not required to work with clients, nor work within a placement, as this is an academic course which does not in itself provide a profession qualification, but can create a pathway towards achieving this . You will develop your counselling skills with peers and tutors.
You will also focus on learning about counselling theory and personal development, counselling ethics and the principles which inform the Ethical Framework for Good Practice in Counselling and Psychotherapy. Professional counselling boundaries, ethical dilemmas and social issues and their impact on the counselling process are also explored.
Assessment is through coursework and presentations, and we use a self, peer and tutor assessment process.
The Certificate is a 1 year full –time course held on Mondays and Thursdays (9.30 am to 4.30pm) term time only.
