Cornwall College St Austell LEVEL: 3 Music & Performing Arts

Is a life on the stage or screen calling you? Do you long to act, dance, sing or perform to live audiences or on TV? Our St Austell campus has a renowned reputation for its performing arts courses which enable students to progress to some of the most prestigious performing arts schools and conservatoires in the country. Our facilities are amazing and include The Keay Theatre, professional dance studios, and rehearsal and performance spaces.

If you wish to pursue a career in the performing arts then we offer you the choice of four specialist courses, all of which are equivalent to A-levels. Our Level 2 course is ideal should your GCSE results not be what you expected, with the option to progress to one of our Level 3 diplomas.

If you dream about treading the boards and want a career in musical theatre, this course will help enhance your key skills and techniques. You will learn additional skills in acting, singing and dancing and become a versatile musical performer. You will benefit from regular vocal sessions and have the opportunity to perform in our own popular Keay Theatre as well as projects across Cornwall.

You’ll need:

Four GCSEs at grade 4, including English and mathematics. Successful selection is also based on interview and an audition.

About the diverse elements that make up musical theatre, and benefit from regular vocal sessions to improve and expand your own performance.


To work without the pressure of formal written examinations, as your assessments are coursework based.

Jake Moyle Professional Dancer

After completing the dance diploma Jake was offered a place at the London Studio Centre where he trained in dancing, singing and acting. Since graduating in 2014 Jake has worked on various commercials including the House of Fraser Christmas advert, been a backing dancer on the X Factor and is currently filming on Mary Poppins Returns starring Emily Blunt.

“I love how diverse professional dancing can be; I’m always doing
something different. If you are thinking of pursuing a career in the
performing arts you should take this course. It’s not easy, you have to
work hard and want it, but if you want it, you can make it happen. I had
an amazing time at college due to a great group of peers and a strong
set of teachers.”
