Future music industry professionals will require a range of essential creative and personal skills to be successful. Relentless ambition, drive, strong communication skills, entrepreneurial vision coupled with raw talent makes the developing music professional a formidable prospect. From the outset you will be encouraged to combine these skills to create quality, contemporary electronic music. Upon completion of the programme you will be well on the way to building a career as an electronic music producer and performer.

You will cover a range of practical and theoretical subjects such as sequencing, synthesis, sampling, sound design, audio editing, mixing and mastering, live sound and performance techniques. You will have access to industry-standard equipment throughout the programme, working with Logic Pro Studio and Ableton Live Suite on Apple Macs. All workstations and studio control rooms have the Native Instrument Komplete 8 package coupled with the Sonnox Oxford plugin suite and UAD
hardware emulators. You will be taught how best to utilise these plugins to enhance your own composition and production skills, listening to your work on the highest quality PMC monitors in our Aphex Suite.

In addition to covering essential composition and production techniques, you will explore new and exciting methods of sound creation and manipulation using Native Instruments Reaktor and Max 6 software to develop your own performance tools, synthesisers and signal processors. The programme allows you to study this area in greater depth, mastering your craft and looking at new ways of delivering your music, incorporating the latest computer-based performance technologies.

Entry Requirements

48 UCAS points from AS and A-Levels (at least 32 points must be at A2-level) or relevant level 3 qualification, ie BTEC National Diploma / BTEC Extended Diploma - PPP Grades required (specific unit grades may be requested). Access to HE Diplomas in a relevant subject - 45 credits at level 3 (specific unit grades may be requested). Plus GCSEs at grade C/grade 4 or above in English Language and Mathematics: alternatives at Level 2 may be considered. Mature applicants with relevant experience but without the stated qualifications will be considered individually and are encouraged to apply. An audition or portfolio interview will be required.
