This course is aimed at those who already have experience within the make-up industry. It has been specifically designed to develop practical skills to an advanced level through a variety of techniques.
You will be shown how master specialist make-up techniques and work with artificial hair for a broad range of creative and dynamic industries.
Our courses will put you on the road to a great future; we have developed our qualifications in partnership with industry professionals to ensure the knowledge you gain is not only relevant and current, but will set you apart in the workplace.
Throughout your studies you will learn by completing practical activities and assessments based on real-life scenarios in our commercial training salons. You’ll get the chance to take part in competitions, fashion shows and get some masterclass insights from visiting professionals.
If you don’t currently have the skills or experience needed to undertake this Level 3 course we also offer Hair & Make-up Diploma Level 2, which upon completion will allow you to progress to Level 3.

You would like to develop your skills as a Professional Make-up Artist for Film, Theatre and TV.
4 GCSEs at 4 or above, Level 2 Diploma in a related area, and successful outcome at interview. We recognise that applicants without these qualifications can often offer a high level of competence as well as life experience and we will therefore consider all applications on their merits alongside their qualifications.
Candidates should also have a good level of computer skills, access to the internet from home and a genuine interest in the hair, make-up and media industry.

If you are 16-19 without the required grades, you will continue to develop your skills of Maths, English & Employability as a part of your study programme.

- Apply airbrush make-up to the face
- Camouflage make-up
- Fashion & Photographic Make-up
- Media make-up
- Style and fit postiche
- Apply prosthetic pieces and bald caps
- Design and apply face and body art
- Style and dress hair using a variety of techniques
- Creative fantasy hair design for performers
- Monitor and maintain health and safety practice in the salon
- Client care and communication in the specialist make-up related industry
To take part in competition work, demonstrations from visiting guest speakers and work experience.
Students will be assessed whilst providing treatments in the salons/studio. Students will be required to provide models for some of these assessments. Assignments and written tests will also be used to test theoretical knowledge and understanding.
The industry focus of this course; equipping you for a successful career in Professional Make-up, Film, Theatre and TV.
Career possibilities include employment in the media make-up and hairdressing industries with opportunities for self-employment. Examples could include working in theatre, TV or film (although more experience at higher Levels are beneficial for film and television).
