If you are looking to begin an exciting career in the hair, make-up and media industry, and would like to eventually pursue a career in the theatre, film or television industry gaining a national qualification, then this course is for you. You will learn excellent industry skills such as how to apply make-up, provide eyebrow and eyelash treatments, the art of photographic make-up, body art designs, colour and dress hair as well as make and style hair addition.
Our courses will put you on the road to a great future; we have developed our qualifications in partnership with industry professionals to ensure the knowledge you gain is not only relevant and current, but will set you apart in the workplace. Throughout your studies you will learn by completing practical activities and assessments based on professional real-life scenarios in our Koko commercial training salons. You’ll get the chance to take part in competitions, fashion shows and get some masterclass insights from visiting professionals.

You are interested in hair and make-up and would like to eventually pursue a career in the theatre, film or television industry.
Two GCSEs at grade 4 or above in Maths and English or an equivalent qualification. We recognise that applicants without these qualifications can often offer a high level of competence as well as life experience and we will therefore consider all applications on their merits alongside their qualifications.
If you are 16-19 without the required grades, you will continue to develop your skills of Maths, English & Employability as a part of your study programme.

At Level 2 you will gain an excellent range of skills which will provide you with a starting point towards a career in the industry. The course has been specifically designed to enable you to learn both aspects of Hairdressing and Media make-up.
Areas studied on the course include:
- Working in the beauty related industries
- Following health and safety practices in the salon
- Client care and communication in the beauty related industries
- Apply make-up
- Provide eyelash and eyebrow treatments
- Create an image based on a theme within the hair and beauty sector
- The art of photographic make-up
- Body art design
- Apply skin care techniques
- The art of colouring hair
- The art of dressing hair
- Make and style hair additions
You will attend theory sessions that will support the knowledge and understanding.
Assessment to be undertaken in a realistic working environment. This could include shows and competitions as well as working on clients. Students will therefore need to be prepared to work both independently and as part of a team.
Taking part in masterclasses led by leading industry experts and training in our professional salons.
On successful completion of the Level 2 Diploma in Hair and Media Make-Up you could enter employment as a hair and media make-up artist. Alternatively you could progress on to the Level 3 Diploma in Theatrical, Special Effects, Hair and Media Make-Up or Level 2 Hairdressing courses.
