Bricklaying Diploma Level 3

Cornwall College | Cornwall College Business Camborne LEVEL: 3 Construction

Bricklayers are responsible for setting out buildings using blocks, bricks and mortar in accordance with approved construction plans. Bricklayers also build and repair walls, chimney stacks, tunnel linings and decorative work such as archways. They might also refurbish brickwork and masonry on restoration projects.

This full-time Level 3 bricklaying course will allow you to move into the workplace at a more advanced supervisory level.

To work on a construction site you need to have a Construction Skills Certificate Scheme (CSCS) card, which covers essential health and safety, however if you wish to earn more than a labourer, gaining a technical skills qualification will provide you with a great start to a career. You can train full-time with us for up to three years with the option to move in to an apprenticeship at any time.

GCSE English and maths at grade 4 or above, and a relevant Level 2 qualification.

You’ll learn:

Topics covered in this programme will include advanced specialisms such as the construction and design of complex structures, curved walling, decorative brickwork and facias, planning and pricing projects, conservation, refurbishing and restoration.

Upon completion of this course you will be able to work in creating complex masonry structures such as chimney stacks, tunnel linings and decorative stonework and rendering.


There will be practical tests throughout, plus written assignments and examinations to ensure you have a broad theoretical understanding of the sector as well as advanced-level skills.
