If you love working with children and would like a career in a supporting role in a school, then studying one of our apprenticeships is ideal for you. Helping to look after the educational, social, physical and emotional development of school-age children is incredibly satisfying. So if you have great communication skills, are planned and organised then this career route is ideal for you.
To ensure you gain all the skills needed for a career in childcare and education, you will need to start your apprenticeship at Level 2. On successful completion you can go into employment or continue on to our Level 3 advanced apprenticeship.

You enjoy working with children or young people and would like to start a career within the children’s workforce in an assistant or supporting role.
Functional Skills Level 1 in English and mathematics, or relevant experience, plus an offer of an apprenticeship supporting children or young people. You will also study functional skills or GCSEs in English and mathematics. You will also need to be able to generate evidence of competence in the workplace.
Through a range of interesting topics including child development, health and safety, safeguarding, creativity, nutrition and diet and personal development.
You will attend college one day a week where you will learn from a range of interesting themes including child development and observation, planning for play and learning, health and safety, safeguarding, creativity, nutrition and diet, and professional development. Your apprenticeship will give you the practical hands-on experience you need to pursue a career in this area.
The ongoing support, both in college and in your workplace setting and will enjoy applying your new skills in practice in your job role.

Dani Hamilton Team Lead - Education Mid and West Cornwall
Dani is an experienced teacher, assessor and early years practitioner. She has a particular interest in the role of the nursery nurse in baby care and has worked within private day care. Dani joined the College as a work-based assessor and has, through ongoing professional development, continued into higher education to gain her Postgraduate Certificate in Education. Dani has in recent years supported the team at Cornwall College Camborne, where training for the children's workforce, in particular early years, has been established for almost 30 years. The team has developed a fully equipped play and learning space in our Edu-Care centre supporting the needs of practitioners who study towards, or will work in a variety of careers. In her spare time Dani regularly ice skates and is an ex Holiday on Ice skater!
