This course is ideal for those aged 19 and over who wish to return to education and want to progress onto a degree course.
There are no specific entry requirements, but you will need to have enthusiasm, commitment and a desire to further your education in the arts. If you wish to apply you will need to bring along a portfolio, of work, to an informal interview. This could contain any of the following: drawing, painting, craft work, photography, sculpture etc. Applicants will be required to complete an initial assessment to identify any support needs.
This course will enable you to gain a broad experience of different subjects in art, design and technology. These will include drawing, painting, printmaking, photography, graphic design, 3D work, programming, animation etc.. It will also provide the opportunity to identify the area of specialisation most relevant to your aspirations and ability.
There will also be a structured programme of academic studies supported by a general core skills programme that will provide an English GCSE equivalent and prepare you for the demands of higher level study.
The Access course is a 1 year, full time course, especially intended for those people who have always wanted to study art and design, but have not previously had the chance to do so.

This course will prepare you for study at HNC or HND, Foundation Degree or Honours Degree level in any creative subject of your choice.
