This course is for anyone in a work environment as it raises learners’ awareness of the concept of risk assessment.
The Principles of Risk Assessment Award Level 2 was created in response to industry requirements for all employees to be aware of risks. Although not all employees will be expected to undertake risk assessments themselves, they may be asked to contribute to the process and will be expected to protect their own health and safety and that of others.

This course is run over one day and covers the following modules:
- Contribution both to the maintenance of a safe work environment and to the process of formal risk assessment
- The legal requirements for risk assessment
- The principles of risk assessment including hazards, risks and control measures, 5 steps of risk assessment, the hierarchy of control and risk assessment, review and record keeping
It is run as an interactive workshop, which includes tutor lead sessions, group work exercises and general classroom discussions. You will be assessed by 30 multiple choice question paper.
In the future, you could enrol in the Risk Assessment in Principles and Practice Award Level 3.
