There are no formal entry requirements but these may l be determined by individual employers which may, for example, typically require 5x A*-C Grade GCSEs (must include English & Maths).
Ideally you will be working within e procurement department or have a role such as: Commercial Support, Commercial Analyst, Sourcing Executive, Procurement Operations Support, Buyer, Assistant Buyer, Commercial Relationship Support, Commissioning and Performance Monitoring Officer, Framework Management Support, Contract Associate, Contract Support.
On-programme for this apprenticeship includes a period of learning and development managed by the employer and training provider. The learning will be built around competencies and skills as set out in the standard. The knowledge, skills and behaviours that will be developed during the on-programme learning will include:
- Context of procurement and supply
- Sourcing and contract agreements
- Supplier management
- Category management
Regular performance, milestone and progress reviews will be continuous throughout the training.
Workshops delivered by industry experts with current knowledge, skills and experience within their specialist areas. Ongoing support from a team of highly qualified mentors/coaches to prepare for end point assessment as the successful completion of the apprenticeship programme.

Encompassing the entire procurement cycle, achieving the Level 4 in Procurement and Supply will enable you to develop as a fully effective commercially skilled professional with transferable skills and career options that span the public, private and charitable sectors. This will be supported by the attainment of a Level 4 Diploma with the Chartered Institute of Procurement & Supply (CIPS).
Learners who upon successful completion of the Apprenticeship Standard for Professional Procurement and Supply level 4 may have the opportunity to progress into:
- An enhanced job role using the skills developed throughout the programme
- Further courses to develop Procurement Knowledge and Skills at levels 5 and 6
- Opportunities for further study specialising in areas such leadership and management
